Wow. Today was cardio. The workout itself was fairly brutal. It's sad when the warm up is brutal, too. Today's warm up was primarily yoga. I've never done yoga so I really struggled. (I spent several moments with my jaw down again.) I feel great post work out. It was tough getting out of bed this morning as my muscles were so stiff.
The eating plan is as follows today:
Breakfast: an egg and a not so clean pancake made with "gasp" white flour and EVOO. I think I'll make some applesauce in the crock pot today and freeze it to use in baking instead of oil.
Lunch: a salad with some cheese and capocallo ham. I bought the best ham at the Fresh Market yesterday. It was absolutely delightful!!
Dinner: grillec chicken. I learned how to butterfly a chicken today. I sprinkled on some Lawry's seasoning salt and grilled it for ten minutes on the breast side and twenty five on the other side. It was great! We'll also have salad and some corn and maybe a glass of wine.

Week 1 Day 1
Since I'm doing the P90X Lean program I started with Core Synergystics. It wasn't hard. It was crazy psycho fool hard!! I did what I could which was maybe half. I spent a lot of time with my jaw dropped the rest of the time. Out of all of the at home video programs I've done, I have to say I think this is one of my favorite. Tony continually told us what to do, what he expected and that if we couldn't do it, it was okay but that he expected us to try and do our best.
In addition to the exercise program, we're also trying to eat clean. We haven't done great today but it's a start.
Breakfast: I homemade pancake made with white flour, baking powder, banana, milk and oil and an egg
Lunch: fresh spinach with four cut up chicken nuggets and a 1/2 T ranch dipping sauce and 1/2 T buffalo dipping sauce and a few fries
Dinner: fresh spinach salad with homemade pizza.
The homemade pizza is this recipe with an additional 1/4 c olive oil and rosemary, basil and oregano added. Our marinara recipe is absolutely excellent. I could eat it with a spoon. We do use an immersion blender to make it a smooth sauce as the children will not eat chunky stuff. I usually make a double or triple batch and freeze for future use -- we use it as a spaghetti sauce, sauce for lasagna, pizza, and dipping sauce. Once the dough has completed it cycle, I cut off a small chunk. I flatten the large chunk of dough into a fifteen inch round stone and put it on the bottom rack of an oven that is preheating to 450 degrees for five minutes. After the five minutes is up, I put a light layer of sauce and a light layer of cheese and then pat the smaller chunk of dough and layer it on the cheese.
I then put another layer of sauce and another thicker layer of cheese and toppings. I bake it in the now preheated oven for about twelve minutes. It is so good and cheesy!! I usually use a mix of mozzarella, cheddar and parmesean cheese. Pair this with a good glass of wine and it's time for heaven!!
Okay, so after reviewing what I actually put in my body today, I guess we really aren't eating clean but we are avoiding chemicals and preservatives (except for the McDonald's which is fairly atypical for us). The good news is that we are trying!
